Finding the Right Audience
For an entrepreneur getting the ground running on their small business, client assessment is critical to your brand’s success in its respective marketplace.
What, or who is the “right” audience, you might ask? An ideal target audience is characterized by various demographics & psychographics (i.e. age, gender, location, household income, lifestyles, interests, etc.), and serves as an important factor in how your brand determines its marketing strategies.
Let’s dive into some things to keep in mind when finding the best audience for your products and/or services:
Identifying Your Brand’s Personality
Purpose, vision, mission, and values – these are four elements that curate your brand personality, and are also important to consider when figuring out who your target audience will be. Remember who you’re for — what do you want your audience to envision you as? Think about traits and characteristics that resonate with your personality the most that you want to see in future clientele.
“It’s Okay To Say No”
It’s easy to become eager upon gaining interest from a new, prospective client! But remember, not every person you come across will be your target person- it’s okay to say no, respectfully! Avoid over-commitment early, and even take the opportunity to still serve them by offering referrals and resources – continue to show off that quality customer service that your brand can provide to anyone it comes across.
Know Your Crowd
Question of the day: did you do your market research? Engage with your audiences on social media to receive instant feedback you can use to attract more members to your circle. Find out what content works and fails through various forms of data & analytics. Get to know your current and prospective clients personally – make sure they know who you and your brand really are!
